In it, Xi Jinping is calling for both sides to work more closely together. "Cooperation is the only right choice for bringing about benefits. But cooperation requires mutual accommodation of each other"s interests and concerns and the quest for the great common ground between the two sides. If China and the United States cooperate well, they can become a backbone of global stability and a booster of world peace. If they enter into conflicts and confrontation, it will be a disaster for both countries and the world at large." Xi Jinping also says the two countries have broad areas for cooperation, including on cyber security. He says China is ready to take part in high-level talks with the US to fight cyber crimes. He"s also backing a proposal for both sides to send 50-thousand students to one-another"s countries. The speech has been delivered at a meeting of the National Committee on U.S.-China Relations, the U.S.-China Business Council and the State of Washington. He will travel to Washington, DC later in the week to meet with US President Barack Obama. |
